LongStories and Heady both make long faceless videos with AI, and both care about consistency. They mean different things by it. LongStories builds Universes: a world with its own look, places and cast that carries from one video to the next, so a series can follow the same characters for months. Heady builds the long video: up to 30 minutes, structured in chapters, with every scene in a chapter drawn from one reference image.

We checked every LongStories fact on this page on 2026-10-29 against its homepage and pricing page, listed at the end.

The core difference

LongStories is built for series with a cast. Its homepage offers "long AI video stories and music videos up to 15 minutes with consistent characters and styles". A Universe is "A world with its own look, places and cast", and the narrator and each character can have their own voice. Its editor lets you "Change one shot, not the whole video", and you can upload or schedule the finished video to YouTube from the app.

Heady is built for long videos with a structure. Heady drafts an outline split into chapters, then every line, and you edit and approve it, and the credit price, before anything renders. Long videos run 8 to 30 minutes in 16:9 on Pro and Studio. Long formats add chapter cards, a progress bar with chapter marks, lower thirds and an end card, and the description Heady writes lists the chapter timestamps. Heady also makes 9:16 Shorts of up to 2 minutes on every plan. On Pro and Studio, Motion mode adds animated charts, counters and timelines.

Choose LongStories if

  • Your channel follows the same characters across videos. This is LongStories' clearest advantage. A Universe keeps the cast, the places and the look from one episode to the next. Heady keeps characters, places and style consistent within a chapter of a video, from one reference image; it has no saved cast that carries across videos.
  • Your characters talk. LongStories gives the narrator and each character a voice. Heady uses one narrator from start to finish.
  • You make music videos as well as stories.
  • You want to upload or schedule from the app. With Heady you download the video and upload it yourself; direct upload is on the roadmap.
  • You want to start today. LongStories is open. Heady isn't open yet.

Choose Heady if

  • Your videos run past 15 minutes. LongStories' videos go up to 15 minutes, and up to 10 on its $59 and $99 plans. Heady's long videos run 8 to 30 minutes.
  • You want chapters built in. Chapter cards, a progress bar with chapter marks, and timestamps ready for your description. We did not find chapters mentioned on LongStories' pages.
  • You make explainers, lists or documentaries, not only stories. Heady's long videos suit topics with an argument or numbers, and Motion mode adds charts, counters and timelines.
  • You want Shorts as well. Heady makes 9:16 Shorts on every plan. We did not find aspect ratios stated on LongStories' pages.
  • You want a simple price per video. A 10-minute Heady video is 60 credits in Standard or 80 in Motion mode before add-ons, and you approve the price before it renders.

Cost, side by side

LongStories prices video in credits per minute, and the rate depends on your settings; its page notes that "A higher resolution uses more credits." Its pricing page gives one example: "A 1-minute Pro video costs 714 credits at 480p and 1,374 credits at 1080p". At those rates, a 10-minute video would use 7,140 credits at 480p or 13,740 at 1080p (our arithmetic). Other settings may cost less or more; check the cost of the settings you would use on its pricing page.

What to check before you decide

  • Whether your channel is a series with a cast. If the same characters appear in every video, LongStories' Universes are built for that.
  • How long your videos are. Up to 15 minutes, both fit. Past 15, Heady does.
  • What a minute costs at your settings. Work out LongStories' credits per minute at the resolution and settings you would use, then compare with Heady's 6 or 8 credits per minute.
  • Whether you need chapters and Shorts. If you do, check how LongStories handles them in a test video.
