Motion

Animated charts, titles and timelines, placed for you

Some things a picture can't say: how deep, how many, in what order. Motion scenes are animated graphics the script drops in exactly where the narration needs them.

The set

10 scenes the script can use

Stills from each scene. In a video they animate in time with the narration.
  • Chapter cards

Opens each chapter with its number and title, so viewers know where they are in a long video.

  • Kinetic titles

Big words that land on the beat of the narration, for hooks and turning points.

  • Stat counters

A number that counts up to its value, with a label, when the script makes a point with a figure.

  • Bar charts

Compare a handful of values side by side; the bars grow in as the narrator names them.

  • Line charts

Show a trend over time: the line draws itself from left to right.

  • Timelines

Dates on a line, revealed one by one: the backbone of history and science videos.

  • Quotes

A line from a source, with who said it, set large enough to read on a phone.

  • Lists

Points that appear one at a time, for causes, steps and countdowns.

  • Lower thirds

A name and a role at the bottom of the frame, over the picture, when someone or somewhere is introduced.

  • Illustrations

Flat drawn scenes with layers that move at different depths, for the moments a diagram says it better.

How it works

Motion that knows what the video is saying

  • The script asks for it

When a beat is about a number, a comparison or a date, the script places a Motion scene on it with the right data.

  • Your look, not a template

Motion scenes take their colours and fonts from the video's style, so they sit next to the drawn scenes without a jump.

  • Timed to the voice

Bars grow and counters climb while the narrator says the number, not before and not after.

  • Your own clips, soon

Made something in another motion tool? Uploading an MP4 for a beat is coming soon, so it can play instead of a drawn scene.

Questions

Motion questions

Do I have to design the motion graphics?

No. The script chooses a Motion scene where one helps and fills it with the facts of that beat. You can change the numbers, the words or the scene type before you approve.

Does Motion cost extra credits?

No. Credits are counted in finished minutes, whatever is on screen during them.

Is Motion in shorts too?

Yes. Motion scenes fit any frame, 16:9 or 9:16, and text is sized to fit the frame it lands in.
