Pictory turns text into video by matching it to licensed stock footage from Storyblocks and Getty Images, with ElevenLabs voices and text-based editing. It is a solid choice when real footage suits your topic. People look elsewhere for a few common reasons: they want visuals that do not come from the same libraries as everyone else's, they want longer videos or more languages, or they want a different way of paying.
This list covers seven alternatives, including our own product, Heady. We say what each does better than Pictory and what to watch for. Every fact about another product was checked on 2026-10-29 against the sources at the end. Pictory, for reference: plans at $29, $59 and $199 a month billed monthly, with 30, 90 and 300 video minutes, and videos of 5 to 30 minutes depending on plan (pictory.ai/pricing).
How we chose
We included tools that make narrated videos from text or a topic and could replace Pictory for a faceless YouTube channel. We left out clipping tools that only cut existing long videos, and editors that do not generate anything. Heady is listed first because it is ours; read its entry with that in mind.
Heady
Best for: long-form YouTube videos with chapters, in one consistent illustrated look.
Heady writes the script from a topic with you (you can edit any line and approve it before anything is made), then makes the whole video: AI stills where every frame is an edit of the first, depth parallax motion, natural AI narration with word-by-word subtitles, music ducked under the voice, chapter cards, lower-thirds and a progress bar. Long-form videos run 8–30 minutes at 16:9; Shorts are 9:16. Motion mode builds charts, timelines and counters as code. You get the YouTube chapter timestamps, an SRT file and a description. Pricing is 1 credit per finished minute (pricing).
Watch for: no stock footage, no avatars, no generated video footage, and English first. If your topic needs real-world footage or another language today, Pictory or another tool on this list fits better.
InVideo AI
Best for: generated footage and timeline editing.
InVideo AI's site lists third-party video models such as Veo 3.1, Kling and Seedance, and its pricing page includes timeline editing on all plans. Plans are per seat: €20, €60 or €150 a month billed monthly, with 400, 2,000 or 5,000 credits per seat, and up to 20 seats on Max.
Watch for: credits pay for generative models, so minutes per plan depend on the models you choose, and the pricing page says unused credits do not roll over. See our Heady vs InVideo AI comparison.
Fliki
Best for: voices and languages.
Fliki's free plan lists 300 voices across 80+ languages; Standard lists 1,000 voices and Premium 2,000+. Voice cloning is on Standard and Premium. Videos can run 5 minutes on Free, 15 on Standard and 40 on Premium. Stock media costs no credits; AI images and video do.
Watch for: credits are charged per action (voice per minute by tier, export per minute, per AI image, per second of AI video), so the cost of a video depends on your choices. See Heady vs Fliki.
DreamTuber
Best for: very long videos, such as sleep documentaries and multi-hour stories.
DreamTuber advertises runtimes from 10 minutes to 10 hours in documentary, explainer, movie, story and podcast styles, with direct YouTube publishing. Its pricing page shows the cost per finished hour by plan: from about $32.70 an hour on Starter ($20 a month) to about $23.54 on Pro ($249 a month).
Watch for: it is built for length; if your channel is mostly 8 to 15 minute explainers, compare what a single video looks like first.
AutoTube
Best for: long YouTube videos with transparent credit costs.
AutoTube lists videos of up to 3 hours. Its pricing page says unused credits roll over while your subscription is active, and that the app shows the exact credit cost of a step before running it. Plans: Creator $50 a month, Pro $99, and Own Keys $59, an early-bird price, with "zero AutoTube markup on steps your keys cover".
Watch for: the Own Keys plan means managing your own API keys and provider bills.
Synthesia
Best for: videos with a presenter on screen.
If you are open to a face that is not yours, Synthesia makes avatar-led videos. Its pricing page lists a free plan with 10 minutes of video a month and 9 avatars, Starter at $19 a month (about 12 minutes) and Pro at $89 a month (about 60 minutes), with 140+ languages and voices.
Watch for: it is a different kind of video. A presenter-led video is not a faceless channel. Check the minutes per month against your upload schedule.
MoneyPrinterTurbo
Best for: technical creators who want a free, self-hosted pipeline.
MoneyPrinterTurbo is open source under the MIT license. It builds videos from stock footage (Pexels, Pixabay, Coverr) or your own media, with optional AI video providers, a choice of TTS engines including Edge TTS, ElevenLabs and Kokoro, and Whisper-timed subtitles. It runs through Docker, a web UI, an API or a CLI, in 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1.
Watch for: you install, run and maintain it yourself, and you bring your own API keys for anything paid.
